Each week I will be breaking down the DraftKings Showdown Slates on Monday, Thursday and Sunday night football. The DraftKings showdown slate is one of the more unique game styles that you can pick from on DraftKings.

When playing a showdown lineup you will notice that it is far different from a standard DraftKings contest. Instead of selecting a full roster of position players you have a Captain slot paired with five flex positions. The player you select as your Captain will score 1.5x the standard fantasy point value for each statistic but drafting a player as the Captain will cost you more salary than using them in your flex position. The DraftKings Showdown slate will consist of the same scoring as all other contests not counting the Captain bonus.

Some numbers to keep in mind when building lineups for your showdown slates. Last season the winning lineup had a running back or wide receiver in the Captain slot 71% of the time on the largest prize pool showdown contests.

All Captain selections are major flex considerations

DraftKings Showdown Slate Week 4 GPP Builds: Packers vs Eagles

Captain

Davante Adams – $16,500

So far this season Davante Adams has been held in check, I would look for that to change Thursday night. He has the unfortunate luck of starting the season against the Bears defense, Xavier Rhodes and Chris Harris. His luck changes Thursday night as this Eagles defense is currently allowing the fourth-most fantasy points to wide receivers. With Valdes-Scantling going off last week (6 catches 99 yards 1 touchdown), I would expect Adams to be the focal point of the passing attack. I am going to have Adams as my highest owned Captain on this slate in what should be a perfect matchup for the All-Pro receiver.

Aaron Rodgers – $16,200

In what has been a very slow start for the second most gifted quarterback in the league (Patrick Mahomes), Rodgers should get this Packers offense on track against a woeful Eagles secondary. The Eagles currently allow the eighth-most points to quarterbacks and that includes Case Keenum who threw for 380 yards and 3 touchdowns. Even with the incompetence of Matt LaFleur, I am expecting Rodgers to have a big night at home vs this Eagles secondary.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling – $11,400

One of the lower owned Captains this week will be Marquez Valdes-Scantling. If you couldn’t tell, I really like the matchup against this atrocious secondary. He is currently playing 81% of the snaps which is 34% more than Geronimo Allison as he is the clear number two receiver in Green Bay. Not only does he play 81% of the snaps, but he also leads the teams in targets with 22. I will build some contrarian plays with Valdes-Scantling but make sure that Rodgers is in the flex for all Packer receiver builds.

Other Captain options to differentiate your lineups and give you a chance at the 250k top prize.

Zach Ertz – $13,800

With DeSean Jackson likely out Thursday night, the targets will be funneled mainly between three players, Zach Ertz, Alshon Jeffery and Nelson Agholor. I will lean on Carson’s church-going buddy and have some lineups with Ertz as my Captain. One thing to note is that the Packers currently have the least amount of points allowed to tight ends. I will most likely be underweight on Ertz, but will have him in some of my core builds, as he simply sees too much volume to completely miss Thursday night.
