DraftKings PGA: 2019 Shriners Hospitals for Children Open picks
The 2019 Safeway Open initiated the West Coast swing. Cam Champ rose to the occasion in the swing season once again, claiming a trophy back-to-back years – which is truly a feat as good as these golfers are. I was not on Champ, and I did not see too many from the DFS community touting him, so congrats if that was your man. We will see if another youngster can claim victory this week, as the PGA Tour rolls a couple of states East to Nevada for the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.
The second stop of the West Coast swing is in Las Vegas, Nevada at TPC Summerlin. This Bobby Weed (Pete Dye) Course is an easier tract, with the past 5 champions (since the event moved to the North Course) averaging around 20-under. The par-71 measures just over 7,200 yards, with slow bentgrass greens and narrow tree-lined fairways. The goal of this tract is to keep the ball in the short grass and attack these easy-to-hit greens. Looking at the past leaderboards, the course has tended to favor distance. Bombers who can rely on aggressive wedges and solid putting will clean up.
