DraftKings college football running back picks October 3

Top Tier:

Our days of getting Re’Mahn Davis on the cheap are over. Davis simply ran over Georgia Tech. While that likely wont be as common, Davis is going to see a nice chunk of touches against a bad ECU defense. Jager Gardner is still eating some carries, but Davis has clearly been the better back. If you’re only using one, it should be Davis.

We saw South Alabama limit the carries of Tra Minter in week four, but it was business as usual in week 5 against Monroe. Minter had 19 carries for 150 yards. He didn’t find the end zone, but he should this week against Georgia Southern.

Middle Tier:

Logan Wright is still seeing enough carries to warrant using, but if Werts gets back to his 2018 form, it’s going to take a huge chunk of work away from Wright. Wright is still cheap enough to use, especially since South Alabama gives up an average of 179 yards per game on the ground. There should be plenty of work to go around here.

Despite the huge day for Re’Mahn Davis, Jager Gardner still had a season high in carries with 18. Temple ground it out against Georgia Tech, and they may here against ECU as well, especially if Russo is ineffective through the air again. Gardner’s price is plenty low enough to use along with Davis or as a stand-alone. This Temple offense is the best on the slate.

Bargain Shoppers:

Oklahoma State transfer J.D. King has been carving out a little more work each week for Georgia Southern. Wright has done nothing to lose the job, but the Eagles run the ball enough to feed King, Wright, and Werts. Choosing which one will go off is the hard part.

There has been no word about the status of Darius Pinnix, but it seems as though he will be out this week. If he is, freshman Demetrius Mauney could see a big number of carries again. Mauney was the most effective back against a tough Memphis run defense. The going wont be much easier against Temple, but Mauney was easily the best back for the Pirates on Saturday. He seems worth the risk at just $3,700.
