Fantasy Football: Vegas Line Movement

The Steelers-Ravens game has the biggest increase in its total as it’s now up to 44, a 1.5 point increase from where it opened. The Steelers implied total is up a full point, while the Ravens total is up a half-point. These games have often been low-scoring, defensive battles, but these two teams are very different this year than they have been in the past.

The Ravens offense has been impressive with Lamar Jackson under center and the Steelers offense has still been scoring points with Mason Rudolph filling in for Big Ben. Consider that the Browns put up 40 on this Ravens defense last week, and it’s certainly possible that the Steelers could do some damage. I think this game is going to go overlooked and could end up being higher scoring than a lot of people anticipate.

The Falcons-Texans game is going to be an incredibly popular one for fantasy purposes and now has a total of 50 (highest on the main slate by 2.5 points), up a full point from where it opened. I definitely see the merits of stacking this game up and targeting Watson, Hopkins, Fuller, Ryan, Jones, and Ridley. But just understand that this is going to be everyone’s favorite game stack, too.

The Redskins total dropped another 2.2 points since the beginning of the week and now stands at 13.5, which is one of the lowest totals for an NFL team that I can remember in recent history. I’ll say it again, the Patriots defense is an elite play on Sunday.

The last game I want to highlight is the Rams-Saints game, which has a total of 45.5. That total is down two full points from where it opened and despite the fact that Superdome games are usually good for offenses, I am gravitating towards the defenses in this game. The Saints just held the Cowboys to 10 points last week and the Bucs forced three turnovers against a good Rams team last week, too. With Bridgewater and Winston at quarterbacks, we could definitely see this game get sloppy and be much lower scoring than some folks expect.
