NFL FanDuel: Week 6 QB Targets – (Early Only)

Lamar Jackson – $8,200 – (Cash)

I am going to start the picks this week by taking care of the obvious elephant in the room. The perceived “chalk” on this small six-game slate will come from the clash at Arrowhead Stadium between the Texans and the Chiefs. The Vegas point total in this game sits at 55, which is almost a full touchdown more than the next closest game on the slate. However, there a bunch of small factors that make me want to shy away from this game a bit more than the masses, and I will touch on them as we go. I am instead going to focus on the Ravens who will face the 0-5 Bengals at home, who I look to easily put up 30 points in this match-up.

Last week against the Cardinals, rookie Kyler Murray didn’t wow anyone throwing the ball, but the fact that he was able to get loose for 93 yards and a TD on the ground on 10 carries must have Jackson licking his chops this week. I said it last time I wrote up Jackson, but having a QB that could end up posting RB numbers along with his QB numbers is just a massive advantage. Going back to the KC/HOU match-up, both QB’s in Deshaun Watson and Patrick Mahomes are obviously in play in all formats, with Watson likely being your chalk. I just can’t pay over $9K for Mahomes after he has looked human for two straight weeks.

Gardner Minshew II – $6,900 – (GPP)

The man with the mustache is actually turning out to be a pretty decent QB. The Jags found themselves in a back-and-forth shoot-out with the Panthers last week, and even though they came up short losing 34-27, this offense made some serious strides. Minshew II was unleashed a bit, throwing over 40 passes for the first time in his young career. He went 26-of-44 for 374 yards and connected with WR D.J. Chark for two touchdowns.

This week, Jacksonville has a clash with the Saints, but thankfully it will be at home and not in the Superdome. The New Orleans secondary has a couple of big names in Marshon Lattimore and Eli Apple, and although Lattimore has been better the last couple of weeks, this defense still let Chris Godwin put up a 7-125-2 line last week. The Saints are a much different team on the road, and in what should be a fairly low ownership GPP play on this slate, I am going to stack Minshew II with either Chark or Dede Westbrook.
