DFS fantasy football – Quarterbacks to Sit

Aaron Rodgers (GB) vs. DET

It’s imperative to note that if fellow wideout Davante Adams doesn’t start this week, Rodgers is a quarterback I’d keep on my bench. This is not to say Rodgers is a bad quarterback. I’d have to be insane to say that, but my point is as I’m sure you’re all aware of is the loss of Adams in the Packers’ passing game will greatly affect how Rodgers performs Sunday. Last week against the Cowboys, Rodgers threw for 238 yards for no touchdowns or interceptions with about 9.4 fantasy points on the day without Adams. That was good enough for QB22 in Week 5. If Adams is out again, then Rodgers wouldn’t be the most ideal option to go to.

Jared Goff (LAR) vs. SF

After being rewarded as the highest-paid quarterback to date in the NFL, Goff has certainly played below expectations as of late. He’s thrown three touchdowns to four interceptions in his previous two games played. The Rams may also be without one of their top receivers in Brandin Cooks who is currently going through the team’s concussion protocol. Couple that with the fact that Los Angeles will be hosting a 49ers squad that has surrendered the second-least amount of fantasy points per game to opposing arms, Goff is one quarterback I’d keep my distance from.

Jameis Winston (TB) vs. CAR

While a good chunk of the fantasy football community was hopping on the Jameis Winston bandwagon, I just couldn’t bring myself to follow suit. Maybe it’s because of my past bad experiences with him, but he’s way too volatile to have in any starting lineup no matter how enticing the matchup may be. Yes, Winston did have a fairly productive afternoon against a bad Saints’ secondary putting up roughly around 17.0 fantasy points, but he was far from perfect in that game. He could have had three turnovers in the game but luckily the Saints committed penalties on two of them, and the third was recovered by the Buccaneers’ offense. Otherwise, it would have been a disaster of an outing if those turnovers had actually held up. The Buccaneers and Panthers will travel to London this week, and we all know how disastrous those games can be from a fantasy standpoint. Plus, Carolina doesn’t have a bad secondary allowing only the fifth-fewest passing yards per game to quarterbacks this year (220.2).
