DFS fantasy football – Defenses to Start

Ravens Defense vs. CIN

Of course, if a defense is playing against a terrible offense like Cincinnati’s, then it’s logical to start them. Baltimore will be taking on an offense that ranks in the bottom in just about every category out there. They’re 29th in points scored per game (16.0), and 26th in total yards per game as well (319.2). Not to mention the fact that their offensive line is as porous as a sponge and the Ravens will get numerous opportunities to wreak havoc on quarterback Andy Dalton and running back Joe Mixon. Without playmakers like John Ross or A.J. Green present, it will make just that much more difficult for the Bengals to find any success on offense. Start Baltimore without hesitation this week.

Cowboys Defense @ NYJ

Much like the Cincinnati Bengals, the Jets’ offense is another unit where you want to have your defense square up against. Though New York is expected to get their starting quarterback Sam Darnold back this week, the team doesn’t have enough firepower on the offensive side of the ball to strike any legitimate fear in their opponents. I know the Cowboys have looked shaky the last couple of weeks, but I think playing against the Jets will give them a huge boost in their confidence. As long as they can shut down Le’Veon Bell, Dallas should have no trouble preventing the Jets from scoring many points against them. Start this defense with confidence.

Chargers Defense vs. PIT

After giving us a bit of a scare last week against the Denver Broncos, they finally settled in during the second half of the game. They ended up rounding out the day with 12 fantasy points as they allowed 20 points against, along with a pick-six and fumble recovery to boot. Despite not having some key playmakers on defense like Derwin James, the Chargers should do just fine considering that the Pittsburgh Steelers have been reduced to their third-string quarterback in Devlin Hodges.
