NBA Preseason DFS: Hornets @ Grizzlies

Charlotte Hornets

Veteran Nicolas Batum will sit out again tonight for the Hornets, but there’s no one else on the injury report as of now. Charlotte is a young team with a bunch of promising young players but they are going to take their lumps this season. The first guy you have to consider on a nightly basis is Terry Rozier, although I don’t see a ton of upside him at his price based on how he deferred to teammates in their last game against the Sixers.

The two plays that stand out to me are rookie P.J. Washington and second-year man Miles Bridges. Both guys started and played 30+ minutes last Friday and had productive outings. Dwayne Bacon also started and played 26 minutes, leading the team in scoring.

Elite Plays: P.J. Washington, Miles Bridges

Secondary Plays: Terry Rozier, Dwayne Bacon

Memphis Grizzlies

Memphis center Jonas Valanciunas will not play tonight or in any more NBA preseason games. Guard De’Anthony Melton is also out tonight. The Grizzlies are led by their young star (in the making) point guard Ja Morant, who I’m going to make a core play. He hasn’t popped off for a big game yet, but if feels like it’s coming.

You won’t recognize a lot of the names on this roster, but there are some other good young players to consider in this game, starting with Jaren Jackson Jr. and Bruno Caboclo. These two will play the SF and PF spots and are stat-stuffers who can rack up boards, blocks, and steals in a hurry. Jackson has a better offensive game, but neither of them needs to score than many points to have great fantasy outings.

Elite Plays: Ja Morant

Secondary Plays: Bruno Caboclo, Jaren Jackson Jr.
