2020 NFL mock draft: Justin Herbert lands with Bengals
By Brad Weiss
Heading into the 2019 NFL season, many believed the Cleveland Browns would be one of the better teams in all of football. After bringing in a ton of talent on both sides of the ball, and seeing quarterback Baker Mayfield dominate as a rookie the year before, the scene was set for this franchise to get to the top of the AFC North.
However, Mayfield has taken a serious step back in his development, leading the league in interceptions, and the Browns continue to lose games. Sunday, they lost a tough one in front of the home crowd, as Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks picked them apart through the air, as the Browns continue to struggle against the pass.
With their first round pick in 2020, they should look to bring in some talent at the safety position, especially after using early picks on the cornerback spot in recent drafts. Grant Delpit from LSU is a top-10 talent, and the best safety in this draft class, and could come in and help this Cleveland secondary immediately.
Nobody expected the Miami Dolphins to do much of anything this season, but after the first quarter or so of the season, they are in line to pick in the top-2, thanks to their winless record. Outside of that pick that they will earn, Miami will also pick two more times in the first round, this time coming at No. 8 overall thanks to the Pittsburgh Steelers tough start to the season.
The Steelers actually won on Sunday night, moving this pick down a bit, but as it stands, Miami will hold two top-10 picks next April. With this pick, they should look to bring in the best cornerback in this draft class, replacing Minkah Fitzpatrick, who they traded to the Steelers for this draft pick.
Jeffrey Okudah is the best cover corner in this draft class, and the Dolphins have proven time and time again this season that they need help at the position. As they look to rebuild this roster, they need to start taking the best player available, something the Oakland Raiders did this past April with their three first round picks.
