Fantasy football picks: Week 7 TNF Broncos vs. Chiefs

Patrick Mahomes – Pretty much anybody and everybody will be on the golden goose in this game. The individual match-up is pretty bad though, as Denver is one of the best defenses in the league against the pass. They give up the sixth least points to the quarterback position. They also rank seventh in DVOA against the pass. This means I have far less interest in Mahomes than I normally would for a one gamer. That does not mean he won’t be popular, and after all, he is basically match-up proof. Mahomes is coming off three games of less than 20 fantasy points, which makes me think he is due for one of those big performances. In cash games, he is definitely in play, I will be avoiding in GPP’s.

Joe Flacco – On the other side of this we have Flacco who should be able to take advantage of a bad passing defense. Kansas Coty gives up the 5th most points to the quarterback position. The major issue I have with him is that Denver just isn’t passing the ball enough. Three out of his last four games Flacco had less than 30 passing attempts, which is just not enough opportunities to have a big game. In all three of those games, he scores under ten fantasy points, as a reference. In this game, he will have to throw early and often in order to keep up with the high-powered Chief offense. I also like the price tag, and Flacco has the potential for his highest-scoring game of the season.
