DFS Advice – Quarterbacks to Sit

Sam Darnold (NYJ) vs. NE

While it was very encouraging to see Sam Darnold played well in his first game back after sitting out with mono the last several weeks, I don’t think the same storyline will happen again this time around. The Jets will be hosting their nemesis the New England Patriots who have their sights set on a perfect season. New England did show some signs of weakness against Daniel Jones and the Giants, but they eventually got it together as they finished the night off with three picks, a fumble recovery, and two touchdowns. The Patriots have played like the best defense in football up to this point and they will look to keep the status quo against Darnold and Gang Green.

Philip Rivers (LAC) @ TEN

The Los Angeles Chargers are in some serious trouble as they have fallen to a 2-4 record which is tied for last place with the Denver Broncos in the AFC West. Rivers has experienced some struggles lately, throwing a pair of interceptions in each of his last two games played. It’s not going to get any easier for Rivers as the Chargers will travel to the Music City to take on the Tennessee Titans this week. Tennessee currently ranks in the top-ten in interceptions this year with six, two of which have come in the previous pair of games played. A combination of Rivers’ recent struggles and Tennessee’s stifling secondary makes for a matchup I would not want to deal with this week.

Teddy Bridgewater (NO) @ CHI

Bridgewater has proven he can be a serviceable backup quarterback in the wake of Drew Brees’ absence with a thumb injury to his throwing hand. Since Week 3, he has completed about 72% of his passes for 924 yards, seven touchdowns, and two interceptions. While these numbers are good considering the circumstances that have occurred, I don’t believe this week against Chicago is the best idea to start him. If you recall, Jacksonville’s defense who is less talented than Chicago’s held Bridgewater down to 240 yards, a touchdown and three sacks this past Sunday resulting in a QB18 finish. I’m not seeing any change in fortunes for Bridgewater’s fantasy production this week against a much stronger secondary.
