DFS Advice – Running Backs to Start

Devonta Freeman (ATL) vs. LAR

Despite the recent struggles from the Atlanta Falcons as a whole, Devonta Freeman has appeared to have found his rhythm once again. Since Week 5, Freeman ranks as RB5 averaging slightly over 22.0 fantasy points per game. A lot of us had believed that Freeman’s production had taken a dive after 2017, but the Atlanta ball carrier has seen a bit of a resurgence. Now the Falcons will be squaring off with the Rams who have had their fair share of troubles stopping the run. Los Angeles has looked particularly bad against backfields during the previous three weeks. In that time frame, opposing backs have averaged 21.0 fantasy points against the Rams’ run defense. Freeman looks poised to have yet another big day as part of his rebirth.

Dalvin Cook (MIN) @ DET

Dalvin Cook has been one of the biggest pleasant surprises up to this point in the 2019 regular season. After having the first two seasons of his career hampered with injuries, Cook has finally been granted the opportunity to display his full potential. Through the first six weeks of the regular season, Cook is RB2 averaging 5.4 yards a pop, and six total touchdowns. He’s managed to be productive from a fantasy standpoint even against some really tough run defenses like Chicago and Philadelphia. Now Cook will be taking on Detroit this week who have had a tough time halting the run game this year. Prepare to see Cook go all out in this NFC North rivalry showdown.

Leonard Fournette (JAX) @ CIN

Over the last four weeks, Leonard Fournette is RB5 as he has rushed for 471 yards in that span. He’s been able to find his 2017-form again while averaging 5.1 yards per tote on the ground. The Jaguars will be heading to Cincinnati to take on a winless Bengals team apparently in “tank mode”. Cincinnati has not looked good at all, especially in the run-game department allowing 126.5 yards per game to enemy running backs. Jacksonville doesn’t have much in their passing game outside of rookie D.J. Chark, so it may work in their best interests to run with a heavy dose of Leonard Fournette this week.
