Early DraftKings college football quarterback picks October 19

Top Tier:

The only time Jalen Hurts was held under 36 DraftKings points was against South Dakota when he only played a half. Go ahead and spend. He’s worth it. So is Joe Burrow. Burrow’s low mark on the season was the 28.02 against the Gators last week.

Iowa State wont be running with Purdy as much because they don’t have to. It’s time to flip to Charlie Brewer. Brewer faces an Oklahoma State defense that gives up an average of 249.8 passing yards per game.

.Middle Tier:

I’m all over Trevor Lawrence again this week. We saw Wake torch this Louisville defense (but still lose) last week. All due respect to Newman, but Lawrence is a better player. Lawrence could be the best per dollar play on the entire slate.

We haven’t seen that massive game from Kelly Bryant since he headed west to Columbia this year. This could be the game. Vanderbilt was trampled by a UNLV team that is in the bottom 20 of almost every category that you can think of. Mizzou wins big, but Bryant goes off before he gets pulled out of the game.

Bargain Shoppers:

Louisville is going to be playing from behind all game, so whoever starts at quarterback for the Cardinals is a good play. Puma Pass is out for the year now and Malik Cunningham left in the first quarter against Wake with a head/knee injury. Evan Conley played well in relief. The good part here is that both quarterbacks are almost the same price so we can make a switch if one is ruled out.

It has been a rough go so far against Devon Modster, but he faced the two of the best defenses in the Pac 12 in his first two lengthy appearances in Arizona State and Oregon. It will be much easier against Oregon State.  I really like Modster as a value pick, but he’s not foolproof. Modster still makes some ill advised passes.

Oklahoma transfer Austin Kendall is doubtful against his former team, which makes Jack Allison a good potential value play at just $5,100. Oklahoma’s defense has played well so far, but Allison could get 15-20 DraftKings points at a price point that no one else will. Just make sure he’s starting first.
