Early DraftKings college football running back picks October 19

Top Tier:

Chuba Hubbard is matchup-proof. His low mark against FBS teams is 30.5 DraftKings points against Texas. The Baylor defense has been solid so far, but Thompson went nuts on them last week and Hubbard is at least that good. This could be another huge game for Hubbard.

The onus is going to fall even more on workhorse AJ Dillon with Anthony Brown out. Quarterback play was awful after Brown went down, and likely wont be any better against a solid NC State defense. Don’t be shocked if Dillon gets close to 30 carries.

Middle Tier:

What’s good for the Trevor Lawrence is good for the Travis Etienne as well. At least when you’re talking about facing the Louisville defense. The Cardinals’ run D is better than the pass D, but neither unit looked good against Wake. Etienne is still priced a little low here. I like him a lot in this range.

Larry Roun(no D dammit!)tree was a horse against Ole Miss. He’s going to look like a racehorse against Vandy. UNLV carved up the ‘Dores running the ball last week. Rountree is going to have a heyday in this one!

I wouldn’t mess with the LSU backfield committee. Another team that looked to have a committee, Oregon, has a chairman now. It’s CJ Verdell, and he gets roughly 80% of the carries. The Washington run defense is a bit of a sore spot this year. I think this is where Oregon gets separation here, so I expect a big game from Verdell. His price looks really low.

Bargain Shoppers:

Breece Hall burst on the scene for the Cyclones last week with 132 yards and three touchdowns on 26 carries against West Virginia. Tech may have beaten Oklahoma State, but Hubbard still had a huge game. Expect a massive game from Hall for the price. He’s a lock for me in every lineup.

Missouri backup Tyler Badie only had five carries last week, but he still had three receptions for 69 yards and a touchdown. This is another week where I think there’s enough touches for both backs. Badie has interesting upside in GPP’s.

SaRodorick Thompson had a career day against Baylor and his price skyrocketed by……$100. I know the Iowa State defense is solid but come on. Thompson is worth a lot more than his price here. You can pay up for one back, but with Thompson and Hall this cheap, you’re cheating yourself if you don’t use them.
