NBA Preseason DFS: Thursday, 10/17 – Herro Ball
By Dan Palyo
NBA Preseason DFS: Portland @ Denver
Portland Trail Blazers
The Trail Blazers just played their “dress rehearsal” game last night with Damian Lillard, C.J. McCollum, and Rodney Hood all playing minutes in the high 20’s. I am anticipating that their two star guards will be rested tonight, so we could have some value if Kent Bazemore, Mario Hezonja, and Anfernee Simons end up starting in their absence. This is speculation and I do not have confirmation of this yet, please understand that!
Hassan Whiteside left last night’s game with an injury and Zach Collins played 24 productive minutes. The Blazers know what Collins can do and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him rested, too. That would make Skal Labisierre a really interesting punt play if he starts at power forward or center tonight.
Top Plays: Anfernee Simons, Mario Hezonja
Secondary Plays: Skal Labisierre, Kent Bazemore
Denver Nuggets
Mike Malone is not to be trusted! I rostered a ton of Nikola Jokic on Monday only to see him play only 19 minutes. The Joker was not very aggressive on offense either, which surprised me but perhaps he just trying to get his teammates going in the preseason.
I am purely speculating here, but I think we see some of the starters ruled out tonight with Jokic and Millsap being the two most likely to sit. This team has a lot of moving pieces and solid bench players who are trying to make the rotation so it would make sense for Malone to give these guys minutes tonight to see who is going to make the cut for this second unit.
Jerami Grant played really well in a start for Millsap and is my top play on the Nuggets tonight. The guard rotations are a mess so I am avoiding that situation, but Michael Porter Jr. continues to look explosive in limited minutes. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him get some extended run and I like his upside at his price.
Top Plays: Jerami Grant, Michael Porter Jr.
Secondary Plays: NONE (but depends on who could be rested)
