DraftKings Showdown: Cheap Options

Demaryius Thomas – $5,000

Cue up the REVENGE game narrative! Although, I am not sure that you can seek revenge after being in one city for less than a few months. He has made it known this week at how upset he was with being traded to the Jets, I expect Thomas to be motivated for this matchup. We have already discussed how you want to attack this defense and with him spending 25-35% of his time in the slot, I will have shares of Thomas.

More from DFS

Ben Watson – $4,400

The Patriots are going to be without Ryan Izzo and Matt LaCosse making Ben Watson a sneaky play at $4400. He will be in on all goal-line situations increasing his value as I would not be surprised if he caught a touchdown.

Brandon Bolden – $3,200

The most frustrating thing when dealing with this Patriots offense is full-time special teamer Brandon Bolden stealing touches and touchdowns away from White and Michel. Bolden has scored in three straight games with just 12 touches, I am going to fade him and hope regression finally hits.

Ty Montgomery – $1,800

The staff has no interest in using Montgomery in a passing downs type role, so I won’t as well. I am fading him unless I am desperate for one player under 2k in a jam them in type spot.

Gunner Olszewski – $1,000

With Josh Gordon out, Gunner Olszewski will see his snap count rise against the Jets. Last week with Gordon and Dorsett out, Olszewski saw 61% of snaps which was right behind Meyers 70%. While he is nothing more than a sprinkle, he becomes a must owned player if Dorsett’s hamstring acts up and he leaves the game early.

DraftKings Showdown: Special Teams / Defensive Flex Options

Patriots – $7,200

If Darnold was out, I would probably have the Patriots as my highest owned Captain, what could have been! This Jets offense is a lot better with Darnold at the helm making the Patriots a tough play at such a high price tag. I will still use them in my flex while sneaking them into a couple of Captain slots, how can you not when they average 20.7 DraftKings points per game.

Mike Nugent – $3,800

One of the most shocking things digging into this game is how poorly the Patriots have played in the red-zone. They have only scored touchdowns on 50% of red-zone trips making Nugent one of the better Patriot value plays.

Sam Ficken – $3,600

The second most shocking thing to me was how efficient the Jets are in the red-zone as they score touchdowns 66.7% of the time. I prefer other avenues when spending down but will have some lineups with Ficken.

Jets – $2,800

Jets D with Le’Veon Bell, that is how you go full contrarian on this slate. While the Jets do get back several starters including CJ Mosley, it is tough to go against this Patriots offensive attack. “Sprinkle only”

DraftKings Showdown: Game Script Thoughts

The Patriots opened up as a 9.5 point favorite over the New York Jets with a total of 43.5. The line has seen zero movements as they sit the same as of Sunday night. This slate should be a fun one with so many different routes that you can go to. It will be very important to build out your lineups in a thoughtful process. Meaning you should be pairing Michel with Patriots D and Jets receivers, Jets with Bell, Brady with his pass-catchers and so forth. Against any other team, I am taking the home team and the points every time. The Patriots are the exception to the rule, I would stay far away from both the total and line.
