Fantasy football picks: Week 7 MNF Patriots vs. Jets

Sony Michel – I feel like I have written up Michel a few times this year, only to get disappointed by him each time. New York is average against the run, but I expect the Patriots to be up throughout this entire game. There is virtually an even split in the snaps, where Sony gets a decent amount of the rushing plays, and the other two backs split the passing plays and change of pace situations.

Still, he is normally getting between 15-19 touches, which is plenty more than enough to do some damage. While I don’t mind him in cash games, I would much rather use Michel in GPP’s due to the unpredictable nature of the backfield, and his high ceiling, but low floor type nature.

Julian Edelman – Now we finally get to my favorite stud in this game. Edelman might see 20 targets in this one. He is virtually the last receiver standing in New England, which is fine by me. He got 15 targets last game against the Giants, which in that game I listed him as one of my top plays. In the only game against the Jets, he had ten targets, 67 yards, and a score. I won’t be surprised if he easily exceeds that stat line with an increased target rate.

New York ranks 10th in fantasy points given up to opposing receivers, that’s about as good as we could ask for. He is already the favorite go-to option for Tom, add in the fact that he usually plays in the slot, and not just on the outside. This is good because he normally avoids the opposing team’s top cornerback. We have so much to like about Edelman here, and he should be used in all of your lineups.
