DFS NBA Love, Like, Leave – Opening Night

Point Guard

Love

Lonzo Ball (7,100): The Pelicans made major splashes in the off-season, moving on from AD and bringing in an influx of talented youth. With Zion sitting the first month, look for Lonzo to take more of the offensive reigns.

Preseason showed Lonzo has improved in nearly every facet of his game, from his great ability as a floor general to an improved shooting stroke. I have a feeling Lonzo is going to be a 9k+ player at some point this year. This price is a steal for me.

Like

Fred VanVleet (5,600): I don’t think anybody is going to forget VanVleet’s NBA finals performance any time soon, but the kicker is FVV may have only scratched the surface. At only 25, FVV is entering his third full season, and the door is wide open for all the usage he can handle.

With Leonard and Green leaving, the SG spot is wide open for either Powell or VanVleet, and whoever is the 6th man is going to reap the rewards as well. Look for FVV to add significant improvements to last year’s 11 PPG, 4.8 APG, and 2.2 RPG.

Leave

Kyle Lowry (7,600): As the most expensive PG play on the slate, Lowry offers an interesting floor for cash games, but I personally think he lacks the upside that Ball has, and his floor may not even be as steady, with Ball being much more proficient in gathering the counting stats.

It seems like a good place to stay away from Lowry, especially as I assume he will draw much of Lonzo’s all NBA defense.
