DraftKings NBA Picks October 23: Bang the Drummond slowly

The NBA season begins in earnest tonight with an 11 game DraftKings NBA slate. There will be a lot more parity in tonight’s lineups. Last night most people had the same value and mostly the same core.

A new season will mean a little bit of a different format. It will still provide most of what you are used to, but I will go more into why I am thinking about one pick over the other. That way if you don’t agree with my particular analysis, you more easily know what to chase instead.

There isn’t much for injury news on the opening slate. A lot of that is due to few teams being in action. The NBA has tried to make rules to help with late scratches and such. I’m all for having to announce lineups a half hour before tip because DraftKings NBA still has late swap.

Out: Blake Griffin (hamstring), Dwight Powell (hamstring), Dion Waiters (suspension), Troy Brown (calf), Reggie Bullock (back), Andre Iguodala (personal), Harry Giles (knee), Cameron Johnson (calf), Romeo Langford (knee), Kadeem Allen (knee), C.J. Miles (foot), Andre Roberson (knee), Ty Jerome (ankle), De’Anthony Melton (back), Udonis Haslem (wrist), Victor Oladipo (knee), Sekou Doumbouya (concussion), Kevin Durant (achilles), Pau Gasol (foot), Jusuf Nurkic (leg), Bol Bol (foot), Dante Exum (knee), Chandler Hutchison (hamstring), Dylan Windler (leg), Tacko Fall (concussion), Ian Mahinmi (achilles), Isaiah Thomas (thumb), John Wall (achilles).

Questionable: Ben Simmons (back), Mitchell Robinson (ankle), Taj Gibson (calf), Markieff Morris (back), Luke Kennard (knee), John Henson (groin), Matthew Dellavedova (thumb), Raul Neto (hamstring), Ryan Broekhoff (ankle).

Those few designated as probable were left off of my injury report. No need to confuse things further. The new rule already paid off last night with plenty of time to switch out Rondo.

I had a solid opening night last night. My lowest lineup was a solid 263.25, but with the cash line pretty high at 292.25, half of my lineups missed cash. However, one topped out at 327.75 DraftKings points to make sure I came out ahead. I built around VanVleet, Lowry, and Siakam on that one and had solid outing from Kawhi and Brandon Ingram.

Ogre1234, Deje8352, and jqspeedy82 started off the season over $100k richer in a triple takedown. They built around most of the same pieces I did, but using Danny Green made all of the difference. A.D. over Kawhi was a good decision too.
