DraftKings NBA Picks October 25: Out on the Towns
By Mike Marteny
DraftKings NBA Point Guards:
Best Bets:
Luka Doncic had a superstar game in the opener, and his price still doesn’t really reflect it. This is another great matchup for Luka. He’s worth anchoring your lineup for that price. 6x value seems not just possible, but probable.
Point guard is absolutely loaded at every tier tonight, but specifically at the top even if we don’t include LeBron. We have Kyrie, who made history dropping 50 in his first game for the Nets. Damian Lillard has supposedly a good matchup with the Kings even though he didn’t fare well against them last year. Jrue Holiday takes aim at Dallas after a strong opening game. Which way do we go?
I’m leaning towards Irving as the best option in this tier, and it really isn’t close. I don’t know that I would fade Luka for him, but I will run Irving with Luka at least once.
Honorable Mention:
De’Aaron Fox was much better against Portland that Lillard was against him. I know that was last year, but Fox could see a little more uptick here with Bagley out.
I was going to wait on Chris Paul until after the first game. That was all I needed to see. CP3 was the best player on the court for the Thunder and it wasn’t really close. He is worth every penny of that $7,200 until he wears himself out or the Thunder trade him. I’d say either scenario is likely.
I think a lot of people are going to avoid Conley after his dud in the opener, but this may be a time to get back on the horse. If Rondo is out, who’s going to guard him? Not LeBron. Alex Caruso? Please. They would have better luck calling 81-year-old Jerry West and seeing if he can fill in until Rondo is healthy.
Dark Horse:
Ja Morant had trouble in the opener against a good Miami team, but he could find easier going against the Bulls. Playing most rookies is a risk, but especially at the point for a team that doesn’t have a lot of other pieces. I wont play Morant a lot early in the season, but against the Bulls is an exception. If you need to go really cheap. Tyus Jones was outstanding backing up Morant. If Morant struggles again, Jones could have another big night for the price.
Veteran Ricky Rubio was a monster against the Kings. I would temper expectations against Denver, but I can still see a good game here from Rubio. The Suns aren’t the barren wasteland that they were last year. Rubio seems better suited to be the center of a team that just another piece. Phoenix affords him that opportunity.
Devonte Graham and Coby White both outplayed their veteran counterparts in the opener. Considering that both Charlotte and Chicago have little to play for, I would expect both of these youngsters to cut into Rozier and Satoransky’s time, respectively. I would play either of them for value here.
My pick: White(PG)
