Welcome to Studs, Scrubs, and Duds; FanSided’s daily fantasy NBA lineup helper.

Here’s what’s on the slate for tonight:

7 p.m. ET: Toronto at Boston, Minnesota at Charlotte
7:30 p.m. ET: New York at Brooklyn
8 p.m. ET: Chicago at Memphis, Dallas at New Orleans, Washington at Oklahoma City
9 p.m. ET: Phoenix at Denver
10 p.m. ET: Portland at Sacramento
10:30 p.m. ET: Utah at LA Lakers

How this works:

Studs: Top high salary picks that you can build your lineup around.
Scrubs: Value players looking for a big night or consistent options to help fill out your lineup.
Duds: Players to avoid given their high salary and/or poor matchup.

Five players are picked on each slide, positions are not applicable, and both DraftKings and FanDuel salaries are listed.

Studs

Karl-Anthony Towns (at CHA – $10,800 on DK; $11,500 on FD): Towns was a monster in the season opener against the Nets and things look just as good for him against the Hornets given their lack of defense against the Bulls. Towns should be in for a huge season given his skills and the guys around him. He takes up a big chunk of space, but he’s cheaper than Anthony Davis on FanDuel.

Damian Lillard (at SAC – $8,800 on DK; $9,600 on FD): Lillard was good against the Nuggets and I expect him to be just as good, if not better against the Kings. The offense should be no problem for Portland given the Kings defense and pace. Lillard is below Kyrie, and as great as Kyrie was on opening night, I like Lillard more on Friday.

Kristaps Porzingis (at NO – $7,600 on DK; $8,500 on FD): Porzingis might not be all the way back, and minutes are a bit of a concern, but the matchup is good given the Pelicans lack of interior defense. Porzingis is on the same salary as Donovan Mitchell and Kemba Walker, and I like him to outperform both players.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (vs. WAS – $6,500 on DK; $6,800 on FD): SGA arrived in Oklahoma City with a bang against a stout defense in Utah. The Wizards defense definitely isn’t the Jazz defense and that bodes well for SGA. He’s at a great price with a great matchup and high upside.

Zach LaVine (at MEM – $7,400 on DK; $8,000 on FD): LaVine surprisingly didn’t have his scoring going against the Hornets but the rest of his game was there and his matchup remains great as the Grizzlies aren’t going to be good this season. He’s a good play on DraftKings.
