Early DraftKings college football quarterback picks October 26
Top Tier:
How do you fade Jalen Hurts right now? His DraftKings point per game average is the best in DraftKings college football through eight weeks. The Kansas State defense in Manhattan worries me just enough that I wont have him in every lineup like I have over the last two weeks. I’ll have some exposure, but there are other good options.
Joe Burrow is just enough cheaper than Hurts to consider. The issue is that Auburn’s defense is still the strength of the team. Burrow put up a solid 28.2 DraftKings points on Florida. That’s not enough for the price, so I’m leaning towards a fade here. Burrow will have a good game, but probably not enough to justify paying up.
.Middle Tier:
With the tougher matchups in store for both Justin Fields and Ehlinger, I’m leaning more towards Brock Purdy. Oklahoma State’s defense has been torched over the last couple of weeks by offenses very similar to the Cyclones. There are other pieces of this Iowa State offense that I would rather have, but I think Purdy is one of the better plays for the price in this tier of quarterbacks.
I’m tempted to use Sean Clifford against Michigan State. He had a solid game against Michigan, and Wisconsin took care of Sparty more through the air than on the ground. The potential for low ownership is very enticing as well.
A lot of people probably soured on Quentin Harris after that disaster against Virginia last week. The North Carolina defense isn’t close to as good. However, for the same price I think I like Sam Howell better. Howell has topped 30 DraftKings points in three of the last four games. He probably wont hit that against Duke, but mid 20’s is very possible and is a great return for this price.
Bargain Shoppers:
Cheap quarterbacks are always a risk, but there are actually some decent options down here. Using Tanner Morgan is a risk because Minnesota runs most of the time. However, they might need him against Maryland. Maryland’s run defense is only giving up 126.1 yards per game while the pass defense is giving up 287.4. This is a well-rounded offense. Morgan could be a sneaky play here.
For the first time this year, Max Duggan played almost the entire game for TCU. Not only that, but he amassed 115 rushing yards after netting just 46 total in the first six games combined. TCU has no reason to use Delton at this point. Duggan is still a bit of a risk against Texas, but we saw what Kansas did to them last week. There is plenty of upside here.
