Early DraftKings college football running back picks October 26

Top Tier:

If you’re going to spend top dollar for a running back, it should be Chuba Hubbard. Taylor is still going to get carries, and he may even top the century mark against Ohio State. However, he wont be anywhere close to what Chuba gets against Iowa State. Hubbard’s only game under 120 yards rushing was against FCS McNeese State, a game in which he only carried the ball eight times. Chuba has topped 200 rushing yards in three of the other six games. Use him with confidence.

Florida State leaned heavily on Cam Akers in the sludge in Winston-Salem last Saturday. I kind of think they do the same here despite Syracuse’s solid run defense. They need to take the pressure off of Blackman. Akers did the trick. The volume is high enough that I would consider Akers, but honestly, I’d rather free up the extra $700 to pay for Hubbard.

Middle Tier:

Texas’s pass defense has been the problem, not the run defense, so there is no way I’m paying more for David Anderson than Breece Hall. Even if Hall were priced up around $8,000, he would still be my favorite play on the slate. He has 315 rushing yards in two games since taking over the starting job for the Cyclones, and the Cowboys are giving up 173.6 yards per game on the ground. It’s going to be another huge day for Hall.

I touched on how good Maryland’s run defense has been so far, but they also haven’t faced a back anywhere near Rodney Smith. He has four straight games of more than 100 rushing yards. This is going to be the fifth. You could even use Mohamed Ibrahim since he has turned into quite the vulture. Ibrahim has scored at least one touchdown in every game this season, usually at the expense of Smith.

The return of Isaiah Spiller was good for A&M. He led the team in carries and found the end zone. Mississippi State’s run defense has been solid enough, but I still like Spiller as the lead back for this team at his price.

Bargain Shoppers:

The Minnesota defense has been tough, but the big play ability of Javon Leake is enough to take a shot with him no matter who the opponent. With McFarland once again doubtful, Leake is the lead back on a team that likes to run and may not be able to pass. All for the low price of $5,200.

A backfield timeshare is ominous enough even when not facing a defense like LSU. However, there can be some value with both Auburn backs priced so cheap. This game shouldn’t be a blowout. Even Florida scored 28 points in Death Valley. Auburn should stay close enough for Kam Martin and maybe D.J. Williams to have an impact. Williams is just $3,500 and picked up 11 carries against Arkansas.

Keep an eye on the status of DeeJay Dallas. If Dallas misses the game, Cam’Ron Harris could be a great play for the price. Pitt’s defense clamped down on Syracuse last week, but both Harris and Dallas are better than any backs Syracuse has. Harris is good enough and cheap enough to get plenty of value for the price if Dallas is out.
