Late DraftKings college football quarterback picks October 26

Top Tier:

There are two clear top options, at least as far as price goes, at quarterback. I’m never going to say it’s a bad idea to play Anthony Gordon, but this is one place I would consider a fade. Only Washington has scored more than 30 points on Oregon, and most of that damage was done by the run game.

While it is true that the short passing game is the Wazzu run game, it also gives Oregon a better chance to stop it. Given the relative weakness of the Washington State defense, I’m much more comfortable taking Justin Herbert. He’s also $500 cheaper, something that could come in handy later.

Middle Tier:

If you watched the Utah game against Arizona State last week, you probably feared the worst for Tyler Huntley like most of us did. At the very least, it looked like it would take away the rest of his 2019 season. Well, Huntley says he’s playing this week, and I’m perfectly fine with a fade. Cal’s sputtering offense has put the defense in bad spots, but this is still a good defense.

Utah State rolled Nevada last week, but Jordan Love did not have a good game. He will have to here against Air Force for the Aggies to win. Honestly, Love has regressed this year. He has more interceptions than touchdowns and hasn’t even sniffed 20 DraftKings points since week 1. I expect Love to rebound at some point, but blindly playing him every week just because it could be this week doesn’t seem like a great idea either.

Bargain Shoppers:

Considering Mike Schmidt‘s performance in relief of Donald Hammond, I would at least hope Air Force considers using him more. Schmidt was 5-6 passing for 147 yards and also ran 14 times for 120 yards and three touchdowns. If Schmidt starts, I’m using him.

Kenyon Oblad has added a new dimension to the UNLV offense, but I’m still not using him against San Diego State. Ryan Agnew is slightly cheaper on the other side and he gets to face a bad defense. UNLV is worse against the run just like San Jose State was, so there’s always a chance that Aztecs just run all game like they did last week. That’s a decent sized risk to take.
