After getting embarrassed on Sunday Night Football in Week 7, the Philadelphia Eagles bounce back vs. the Buffalo Bills to stay alive in the playoff race.

Week 7 was not kind to the Philadelphia Eagles. They got absolutely humiliated in primetime against the archrival Dallas Cowboys in Jerryworld on Sunday Night Football. Everyone’s favorite team to represent the NFC in Super Bowl LIV down in Miami found itself at 3-4 facing one of the best defenses in football on the road in Sean McDermott’s Buffalo Bills.

Instead of wallowing in their sorrows, the Eagles went out and gave it to Josh Allen and the Bills, winning easily 31-13 in Orchard Park on Sunday afternoon in Week 8. Philadelphia quarterback Carson Wentz played well, as he completed 17-of-24 passes for 172 yards and a touchdown, as well as carry the ball eight times for 35 yards.

Wentz spread the ball around well to six receivers, including Alshon Jeffery who led the way with four catches for 64 yards. The Eagles dictated terms offensively with a strong ground game, beating the Bills in their building with their own recipe for success. Jordan Howard had 23 carries for 96 yards and a trip to pay dirt. Miles Sanders had three carries for 74 yards and a touchdown.

Overall, this victory was a fantastic one for the Eagles, as it not only gets them back to .500 at 4-4 on the year but puts them right back in the NFC playoff race. Even though they were obliterated by the Cowboys in Arlington last week, Philadelphia is now only half a game back of Dallas for first place in the NFC East. You just have to win your division to host a playoff game.

The Eagles have the talent scattered all over the gridiron to make a second-half run in the NFC to win their division. This organization has great structure from all the way up in the owner’s box to the franchise quarterback finding himself under center in head coach Doug Pederson’s offense. 4-4 isn’t spectacular, but it’s not the worst place in the world to be through Week 8 of the season.

The Eagles have a few tough games coming up vs. the Chicago Bears, the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks. But after that trio of hard home contests, the schedule opens up very nicely for the Eagles. Their final five feature the Miami Dolphins, the Washington Redskins, the Cowboys at home and the lousy New York Giants twice. Philadelphia is still in the mix to win it all.
