NBA DFS Picks and Pivots – First Look

We have an abbreviated three-game NBA DFS slate here on Tuesday with a whole lot of star power and not a whole lot of value but it is the NBA so value can come at a moment’s notice especially when Jimmy Butler, aka General Soreness, is in the player pool.

Of the six teams in action tonight, two of them (Hawks and Nuggets) are on the tail end of a back to back as Denver travels back home after playing in Sacramento last night and the Hawks travel from Atlanta to Miami to face the aforementioned First Class Sargeant in Arms of Soreness and Mystery Illnesses.

On short slates like this, my goal is always the same – plant your flag with a game stack and try and find one with enough value where you can play a star one-off.

If there is one star to pay up for tonight, it is going to be Luka Doncic ($17.4K) who is a walking triple-double every single night and at this price points needs only 52 fantasy points to hit 3X value which is a mark he has hit in every single game this season.

Doncic is coming off a 64 fantasy point outing against Portland where he was one assist shy of his second straight triple-double and it is that kind of ceiling that simply does not jive with his price point in my opinion. If we are targeting 3.5x GPP value for Doncic, that requires 61 fantasy points which are clearly in his realm of outcomes and he has demonstrated as such as recently as last game.

There is going to come a time on FantasyDraft this season where the superstars are $20K plus a night as we saw often last year down the stretch so take advantage of these prices on guys like Doncic early in the season which is easy to slot in with the early season soft pricing.
