Quarterbacks to Sit

Kyler Murray (ARI) vs. SF

I was worried about Murray last week, I was right to be. Murray and the Cardinals’ offense had a really tough time finding any sort of rhythm against a tough Saints defense. He threw the ball for 220 yards for no touchdowns or interceptions, while only rushing the ball twice for a meager 13 yards in Week 8 against New Orleans. In fact, Murray has not looked good the last two weeks averaging under nine fantasy points per game in that span. The 49ers are another stiff defensive competition for Murray to go up against for this Thursday’s matchup. I would seek other options at the position if possible.

Jameis Winston (TB) @ SEA

Does it surprise anyone that I’m telling people to sit a quarterback that is going up against a defense that has allowed the sixth-most receiving yards to opposing arms this year? Well if the quarterback is Jameis Winston, then it’s not. This past week just further proves my point to avoid starting him no matter what the circumstances are. In Week 8 against the Titans, he threw for 301 yards and a pair of touchdowns. While that’s all well and good, when you factor is his four turnovers for the day then you realize the reason why I say to avoid him. The future pastry chef has had 10, count them 10 turnovers in the last two games played! I don’t care if Seattle has the worst secondary in the league, starting Winston is like a ticking time bomb with his ability to turn the ball over at such a high rate. Don’t start him it’s just not worth it.

Baker Mayfield (CLE) @ DEN

To say that Mayfield has played below expectations is an understatement. He is currently QB27  averaging 11.3 fantasy points per game with an atrocious touchdown/interception ratio of 6:12. As bad as the Broncos have been as a whole this year, their secondary is one of their strong-suits, allowing the third fewest passing yards to quarterbacks. All the offseason hype circulating around this team seems like a distant memory as the Browns are now 2-5 with their season nearing dire straits. The pressure is on Mayfield to find a way to get some sort of rhythm back in this offense with his passing attack, but I just don’t see it happening. There is too much trouble going on and Mayfield doesn’t have the experience to lead the team out of this mess.
