The top three fantasy football tight ends for week eight were just as everyone expected: Ryan Griffin, Darren Fells, and Jonnu Smith. Although I did have all of them ranked, and two of them in the top 17, no one saw these guys being the top trio of tight ends.

Behind them, though, were the usual customers: Austin Hooper, Travis Kelce, George Kittle, and Evan Engram. Then we had more surprises with Tyler Eifert, Charles Clay, and Demetrius Harris who all have shown promise but had failed to come through for fantasy football players until last week.

After another weird and unpredictable week for fantasy football tight ends, I’ll try to throw some darts for week nine.

  1. George Kittle SF vs AZ
  2. Darren Waller OAK vs DET
  3. Hunter Henry LAC vs GB
  4. Evan Engram NYG vs DAL
  5. Travis Kelce KC vs MIN
  6. Mark Andrews BAL vs NE
  7. Zach Ertz PHI vs CHI
  8. Chris Herndon NYJ vs MIA
  9. Eric Ebron IND vs PIT
  10. Greg Olsen CAR vs TEN
  11. T.J. Hockenson DET vs OAK
  12. Darren Fells HOU vs JAC
  13. Jonnu Smith TEN vs CAR
  14. Dallas Goedert PHI vs CHI
  15. Vance McDonald PIT vs IND
  16. Jimmy Graham GB vs LAC
  17. Jack Doyle IND vs PIT
  18. Jason Witten DAL vs NYG
  19. O.J. Howard TB vs SEA
  20. Noah Fant DEN vs CLE
  21. Trey Burton CHI vs PHI
  22. Dawson Knox BUF vs WAS
  23. Kyle Rudolph MIN vs KC
  24. Cameron Brate TB vs SEA
  25. Jordan Akins HOU vs JAC
  26. Mike Gesicki MIA vs NYJ
  27. Ryan Griffin NYJ vs MIA
  28. Ed Dickson SEA vs TB
  29. Ricky Seals-Jones CLE vs DEN
  30. Josh Oliver JAC vs HOU

One of the best tight ends in the league (who’s healthy) against the Cardinals defense? Has to be number one for me. I think Darren Waller will bounce back against Detroit and Hunter Henry should be a solid option against the Packers.

I also like Evan Engram against the Cowboys in primetime, Chris Herndon if he finally plays vs MIA, Greg Olsen vs TB, T.J. Hockenson vs OAK, and Darren Fells vs JAC.

Zach Ertz has been disappointing this year with Dallas Goedert often outscoring him. I would sit him if I had another viable option or at least temper expectations against the Bears this week. I also don’t love Jimmy Graham this week and Jason Witten has not been close to pre-retirement Jason Witten this year for fantasy football players.
