10. Sage Surratt, WR, Wake Forest

Wake Forest getting Jamie Newman back in the fold for a matchup with NC State in Week 10 was the talk of the Demon Deacons’ 44-10 win as the quarterback accounted for five touchdowns on the day. However, Newman missing time means that he still ends up being a leg behind his teammate in the Heisman Trophy race. It’s still wide receiver Sage Surratt that gets the nod from the 7-1 Deacs.

Against the Wolfpack, Surratt had a pedestrian game by his standards, though he did catch a team-high nine passes, ending the day with 67 yards. Surratt has been dominant at times but consistent throughout the year. He now has 62 receptions for 948 yards and nine touchdowns on the year. If he’s able to finish strong and help Wake Forest to challenge Clemson in the ACC, he should remain in an impressive position in this race.

9. Travis Etienne, RB, Clemson

It may have been against Wofford but Travis Etienne still put forth a special performance against the Terriers. The speedy running back had only nine carries on the day but took those totes for 212 yards and two touchdowns, one from 47 yards out and the other from 86 yards out. He is now the Clemson record-holder for career touchdowns. He looked the part of one of the most explosive playmakers in college football.

Though Etienne and Clemson may not be in the spotlight that many people thought they’d be, he’s now rushed for more than 100 yards in each of his last four games and has six touchdowns over his last three outings. With that, 1,102 yards rushing, a 9.0 yards per carry average and 11 rushing touchdowns on the year, it’s about time that Etienne cracks the top 10 and is in position to keep climbing these rankings.
