DraftKings college football running back picks November 14

Top Tier:

The Bulls run a lot, but none more than Jaret Patterson. Patterson has 61 carries for 309 yards and three touchdowns, along with two receptions for 59 more yards, in his last two games. Lock him in! Wondering about his backup, Kevin Marks? Marks has 42 carries for 127 yards and two touchdowns with two receptions for 18 yards in the same span. I told you they run a lot!

North Carolina is also a team that uses two running backs almost equally. The bad news is that Pitt only allows 86.8 rushing yards per game. Even though the Heels may not trail by a lot in this game, they are going to have to throw to win. I know that Javonte Williams is tempting, but he likely wont come close to value for his price against this defense.

Middle Tier:

For all intents and purposes, A.J. Davis is the lead back for Pitt. How long will that last though? Davis doesn’t have a run of more than nine yards in the last four games. The volume is nice, and he may have more room against the Tarheels, but that is a really ominous stat.

This Buffalo defense is even stronger than Pitt against the run, and the backs for Kent are far less talented than those of North Carolina. I may consider a Tarheel back, but there is no way I’m playing anyone from Kent’s backfield.

Bargain Shoppers:

I touched on the struggles of Davis to break a run. That could give us a value play or two. V’Lique Carter hasn’t had consistent carries, but at least he has runs of double digit yards. On top of that, Carter is the better receiver, notching seven catches for 101 yards and a touchdown in the last four games. Carter is a bit of a risk, but at the same time, how long will Pitt put up with the lack of big plays from Davis? Considering Pickett is still their starting quarterback, the Panthers may not care….

Vincent Davis averaged 11.2 yards per carry against Georgia Tech, but that is skewed by his 61 yard touchdown romp in that one. Davis has the big play ability that Davis and Carter don’t have, but his lack of consistent carries makes Davis a massive risk.
