Wide Receivers

Michael Thomas, New Orleans Saints vs TB

The best wide receiver in the league against the worst defense in the league against opposing fantasy football receivers? Sign me up. Even though Thomas is the highest priced receiver, he has been by far the most consistent and has the best matchup.

Thomas has three straight 100 yard games and didn’t miss a stride with the return of Drew Brees under center. Thomas scored two touchdowns on 11 catches for 182 yards in his last outing against the Bucs and I expect more of the same this week.

Chris Godwin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs NO

A shootout! That’s what we’re expecting in this Saints and Bucs game. If it plays out like the last matchup between the two, Thomas and Chris Godwin will once again have monster games. In his last game against the Saints, Godwin scored two touchdowns on seven catches for 125 yards.

Marshon Lattimore shut down Mike Evans in their last meeting, allowing Godwin to exploit the rest of the New Orleans secondary. Godwin has hardly broken double digit fantasy points in his last three games, but I think he breaks through again against the Saints this week.

D.J. Moore/Curtis Samuel, Carolina Panthers vs ATL

The Falcons secondary has been very bad this year. This week they will have to deal with two different dynamic, playmaking receivers in D.J. Moore and Curtis Samuel. Both have been good in their last two games, and both could find success in week 11 as well.

Moore has 100+ receiving yards in back-to-back games while Samuel has scored a touchdown in back-to-back games and in three of his last four outings. With the Falcons being in the bottom five of the league against opposing fantasy football wide receivers, both Moore and Samuel are viable fantasy options this week.

John Brown/Cole Beasley, Buffalo Bills vs MIA

Aside from Michael Thomas, John Brown may be one of the the most consistent receivers in fantasy football. He rarely lights up the stat sheet, but he is good for five catches and 70+ yards week after week. His last game against the Dolphins was his best since week one with nearly 20 fantasy points on both site. Without Xavien Howard, Brown should be able to beat the Dolphins secondary on the outside all game long.

Also a beacon of consistency over the last four weeks has been Cole Beasley. Last week, Beasley caught four balls for 74 yards. In each of the three games prior, Beasley hauled in a receiving touchdown, including against the Dolphins in week seven. I wouldn’t be surprised if Beasley found the end zone again on Sunday and is a rather cheap option for DFS lineups.

Mohamed Sanu, New England Patriots vs PHI

The Eagles corners have been exploited all season long. While they have improved in recent weeks as they have gotten healthier, Philly can still be beat deep. Mohamed Sanu can beat you deep, or he can catch 10 passes for 80 yards and a touchdown like he did last week.

Sanu was targeted 14 times last week by Tom Brady. 14 times! Josh Gordon is gone, Julian Edelman is banged up and Phillip Dorsett hasn’t been consistent with his production. I think Brady has found a new Gronk-like target in Sanu. A big-body, sure-handed guy that he can target all over the field. Sanu should have a big game against the Eagles whether Edelman plays or not.

Deebo Samuel, San Francisco 49ers vs AZ

After a decent game against the Cardinals two weeks ago (four catches for 40 yards) Deebo Samuel really broke out last week against the Seahawks. Samuel totaled eight catches for 112 yards and a touchdown.

With George Kittle out once again and Emmanuel Sanders and Dante Pettis banged up as well, Samuel will likely be the go-to target in a passing game that lit up the Cardinals just two weeks ago. At a very low price, Samuel will likely be a chalky pick, but he may be a staple on winning lineups in week 11.

Terry McLaurin, Washington Redskins vs NYJ

Oh, how the mighty have fallen. After a stretch of incredible performances early in the year, Terry McLaurin worked his way up towards the top of the wide receiver salary list. After three straight and four out of five weeks with single digit fantasy football performances, McLaurin is now much more affordable on both platforms.

Many expected McLaurin to find his success when Dwayne Haskins took over the reigns at quarterback, as the two were teammates just last year at Ohio State. But McLaurin really did well with Case Keenum and has struggled with Haskins under center. But facing the Jets this week, McLaurin could have a bounce back game. If he and Haskins have been progressing and getting on the same page during their bye week, they have a matchup that they can exploit this week in the Jets.

Jordan Matthews/Nelson Agholor, Philadelphia Eagles

Guess who’s back… back again. Jordan Matthews is back in Philly once again! I suggested that the Eagles trade for Matthews prior to the deadline with their receiver injury trouble, but now they were able to just sign him.

After hardly being utilized with the 49ers, Matthews will likely have an immediate impact with the Eagles in week 11. Alshon Jeffery and DeSean Jackson are both out this week, so it will be on Matthews, Nelson Agholor, Mack Hollins, and J.J. Arcega-Whiteside to help Carson Wentz beat the Patriots.

Whether the Eagles passing game is super effective or not against the stingy Patriots defense, someone has to catch the ball. It may be steady diet of Zach Ertz, but I think one of the receivers will break through with a solid game. I would lean Matthews with Agholor’s struggles this season, but both are dirt cheap and worth a flier in this scenario.
