2020 NFL mock draft: Tua Tagovailoa falls in the first round
By Brad Weiss
The Arizona Cardinals showed they can play with any team in their division on Sunday, as their matchup with the San Francisco 49ers really went down to the wire. One thing is for sure, they made the right choice by picking Kyler Murray first overall in 2019, and now they have to start stacking weapons around him.
When it comes to the wide receivers in this draft class, there are few more explosive players than that of CeeDee Lamb from Oklahoma. The Cardinals landing Lamb would be a perfect addition to this offense, as he played with Murray at Oklahoma, and helped the signal-caller win the Heisman Trophy during the last college football season.
Arizona has holes to fill on their roster, and this is going to be a building year, so the expectation is they will stay picking in the top-10 when all is said and done. For Murray, he has to continue to grow as a quarterback at the NFL level, and the organization would be wise to not only protect him, but get him the weapons he needs to make the jump from Year 1 to Year 2.
The Detroit Lions are one of those teams who are going to be in every game this season, but they may not have enough talent to get over the hump in a very tough NFC North division. To make matters worse, they will be without quarterback Matthew Stafford for the foreseeable future, although they did get a solid effort from Jeff Driskel this past weekend.
When it comes time for the team to pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, they will likely be picking towards the top of the first round, and they would be wise to get one of the more talented defensive linemen in this draft class. Derrick Brown from Auburn is an absolute beast, and on this Lions line, he would be another solid young piece of the puzzle.
The NFC North is loaded with talent, especially at quarterback, so getting pressure up front is paramount if you want to win the division. Brown is a guy who can play inside, or out, and along this defensive line in Detroit, he could end up being an anchor for the unit for years to come.
