DraftKings NBA Shooting Guards:

Best Bets:

Jimmy Butler ($8,000): I don’t like most of the upper tier of SG. Beal is cold. Harden is facing a stout Miami defense. Kawhi still feels overpriced. Booker is inconsistent. Butler is really the only one I’m comfortable with in a very favorable matchup against Houston. Even then, I’m not sure Butler has the ceiling we want in this price range.

DeMar DeRozan ($7,400): This is a limited ceiling, but DDR has been rolling lately. He has at least 38 DraftKings points in five straight and put up 44 DraftKings points on Minnesota the first time around. DeRozan is probably better suited for cash games, but the return has been very promising lately.

Zach LaVine ($7,100): LaVine took as many shots on Monday as threes he hit on Saturday. That’s why his lines are so inconsistent. Still, the Warriors are not a good team by any stretch right now, especially on defense. LaVine should see plenty of open shots in what should be a close game with no defense. Just because teams aren’t good doesn’t mean that they can’t be fantasy gold mines.

Honorable Mention:

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander ($6,600): The Blazers are so bad against guards that I’ll even consider an enigmatic one like SGA. This is a solid price and we know what the ceiling is here. The issue is that the floor has been pretty low. This isn’t going to be a floor game against the Blazers. I see 5x value as the floor which makes SGA a strong play in all formats.

Luke Kennard ($5,800): The terrible game against Milwaukee over the weekend appears to be the outlier. Kennard has at least 5x value in every other game over the last 11 besides that one. The return of Blake hasn’t hurt Kennard via lost minutes or production. He is a very solid play for the price, though his upside isn’t what it used to be.

Dennis Schroder ($5,700): The Blazers are so bad against guards that we can even play the backups against them. Schroder isn’t your ordinary backup though. He routinely tops 30 DraftKings points and 30 minutes. His ceiling is somewhat limited, but the floor seems high against Portland.

Dark Horses:

Patrick Beverley ($5,000): Beverley is really hit and miss, but this is a solid matchup that could turn into a great matchup if Morant sits. There are a lot of mouths on the Clippers, but the thing that really has me chasing this preemptively is the fact that George and/or Kawhi will likely rest tonight.

Jordan McRae ($3,800): McRae didn’t come out of nowhere last night. He had back to back games of over 8x value before last night. His chances of hitting 8x value with a slightly elevated price and against Phoenix are slim, but he’ll clear 6x with relative ease.

Grayson Allen ($3,200): This is only if Morant sits. Wait, wont Tyus Jones start? That’s not a given. Jones has been awful of late, and Allen outperformed him off the bench in his return to the court. Take whichever one starts because it’s less of a risk, but I’m not sure it will be Jones.
