Rashaad Penny has to be your No. 1 pickup option for flex
By John Buhler
Seattle Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny is the one guy you need to pick up off waivers in fantasy heading into Week 14.
When the Seattle Seahawks used a first-round pick on San Diego State Aztecs running back Rashaad Penny a few years ago, that looked to be one of the worst picks in recent memory. Penny hasn’t lived up to the draft hype at all, as he is only the backup to Seahawks’ starting running back Chris Carson, who Seattle got as a day-three draft selection. Talk about value.
And in terms of fantasy football value, Carson has been one of the better running backs throughout the season. He has been consistent throughout the campaign, as arguably the most effective weapon quarterback Russell Wilson has to work with every fall Sunday. That being said, The Fantasy Footballers think it would be wise for you to pick up Penny this week off waivers.

There are several reasons to go grab Penny off waivers if he is still available in your league. The first is you have to look for non-obvious contributors that can help you win your fantasy football league playoffs. Penny looks to be getting more touches as the weather changes playing in the most run-heavy offense in the NFC this season in Seattle.
Seattle has a favorable matchup on Sunday Night Football this week. They will face the division-rival Los Angeles Rams at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in primetime. Seattle has taken control of first place in the NFC West after the San Francisco 49ers lost on the road to the Baltimore Ravens. A win in Los Angeles will only help the Seahawks stay atop the division.
Though Los Angeles will want this game to stay alive in the NFC Wild Card picture, this is a game Seattle will want even more. The Seahawks simply do not lose on the road this season. Add in that the 49ers could drop back-to-back road games with the New Orleans Saints next up on the schedule, Seattle will look to take advantage of this opportunity to expand its division lead.
So why Penny? Well, the reasoning is pretty simple. The Rams don’t have a great defense and Seattle will run all over them. This is a great way for the Seahawks to chew up some clock. While Carson is the bell-cow, look for Penny to get even more touches as Wilson and the rest of the Seattle offense will look to grind down the Rams in Los Angeles en route to another victory.
