NBA DFS:Studs, scrubs, and duds for December 29
Scrubs
PJ Washington (at MEM – $5,500 on DK; $5,200 on FD): Washington isn’t the most consistent option but he’s going to get the minutes and opportunities. And with the Grizzlies being on a back to back, they might have some tired legs. The Grizzlies are mediocre against the position. Washington is a double double threat with his scoring and rebounding. Look for him to flirt with the double double while putting together a nice scoring game.
Lonzo Ball (vs HOU – $5,400 on DK; $5,000 on FD): Lonzo Ball always seems to play well against Russell Westbrook. There’s a chance Westbrook sits on the back to back, but that just shortens Houston’s rotation, which could hurt them on the back to back. Lonzo had a big game against Houston earlier this season and the Rockets defense can be inconsistent game to game. Lonzo is a high ceiling guy who shouldn’t hurt you in this matchup.
Dwight Powell (at LAL – $4,900 on DK; $4,800 on FD): The Lakers are good against the position but Powell had a nice game against them earlier this season and he is unlikely to hurt you at this salary. He’s played well in the last couple of games and is a guy who always gets the minutes and opportunities. If nothing else, he will provide you with value in this matchup.
Danuel House (at NO – $4,800 on DK; $4,900 on FD): There’s always a Houston role player that delivers over value. House is my pick on this night, but it could just as easily by Ben McLemore, PJ Tucker or Austin Rivers. If Westbrook doesn’t play, that will open up even more opportunities for the Houston role players as well. House is my pick but Rivers and McLemore provide more scoring upside and Tucker can do a bit more aside from scoring.
