DraftKings college football running back picks December 30:

Top Tier:

The Louisville run defense gave up 211 rushing yards per game this year. Kentucky more than doubled that. The Bulldogs may be intent on trying to do the same thing since Stevens can run as well. The price on Kylin Hill is steep, but he should be worth it. He ran for 1,347 yards this year, hitting triple digits in four of the last five games and nine overall. Against this run D, I’m paying up.

On the other side of this, Javian Hawkins ran for 375 yards in the last two games. Mississippi State’s defense is in the middle of the pack overall and against both the run and the pass. Most of the key pieces of the Cincinnati offense are in play for me, though I don’t know if I expect a huge game from any of them.

Middle Tier:

The Illinois run defense struggled at times, and Chris Brown turned in his only triple digit game of the season in the finale against UCLA. Brown played well this year when healthy. The price is still a little high for me, especially considering the Illinois defense played better down the stretch. However, Brown has found the end zone five times in the last four games. That helps ease the concern a bit.

Most of the middle tier looks dangerous. Wayne Taulapapa is touchdown dependent at this point. Perkins gets most of the carries, and a couple of other backs have got a few as well. Reggie Corbin was locked down for most of Big Ten(14) play. Throwing him at Cal seems like a bad idea.

Bargain Shoppers:

Nick Gibson is a backup, but he has at least 50 rushing yards in each of the last four games. I do expect the Bulldogs to run as much as possible in this game, so Gibson is a strong value pick here.

The Florida run game has been stale lately. Perine and Kadarius Toney have split carries, and have caught more passes out of the backfield than anything else. I don’t mind Toney at the price, but there is no way I’m paying for Perine.
