NBA DFS: Studs, scrubs, and duds for DraftKings and FanDuel Jan. 10
Top star players, best value picks, and guys you should stay away from on January 10 in NBA DFS on DraftKings and FanDuel.
Welcome to Studs, Scrubs, and Duds; FanSided’s NBA DFS lineup helper.
Here’s what’s on the slate for tonight:
7 p.m. ET: Atlanta at Washington
7:15 p.m. ET: New Orleans at New York
7:30 p.m. ET: Miami at Brooklyn
8 p.m. ET: Indiana at Chicago, San Antonio at Memphis
9 p.m. ET: Orlando at Phoenix, Charlotte at Utah
9:45 p.m. ET: LA Lakers at Dallas
10 p.m. ET: Milwaukee at Sacramento
10:30 p.m. ET: Golden State at LA Clippers
How this works:
Studs: Top high salary picks that you can build your lineup around.
Scrubs: Value players looking for a big night or consistent options to help fill out your lineup.
Duds: Players to avoid given their high salary and/or poor matchup.
Five players are picked on each slide, positions are not applicable, and both DraftKings and FanDuel salaries are listed.
Studs
Giannis Antetokounmpo (at SAC – $11,100 on DK; $11,100 on FD): Luka might be the top salary on the night but I expect Giannis to be their top performer when the night ends. It’s a great matchup against the Kings and Giannis continues to put up insane numbers. There is blowout potential here but the Kings are scrappy and the west coast road trip can be tough for eastern conference teams. He’s guaranteed value if nothing else.
Trae Young (at WAS – $10,400 on DK; $10,000 on FD): Trae continues to get whatever he wants on the court and now he gets a matchup where defense is going to be optional. There’s great value all across this game given the lack of defense and the lord set salaries on both sides once you get past Trae and Collins. But Trae is obviously the top option in this one.
Devin Booker (vs ORL – $8,400 on DK; $8,800 on FD): It’s a tough matchup for Booker but he continues to score at a high clip. And even though the Magic can make things difficult, I’m not doubting Booker in his current form. He’s playing like post-All Star Booker when the Suns have nothing to play for. Maybe because the Suns once again have nothing to play for.
Lou Williams (vs GS – $7,400 on DK; $6,200 on FD): Lou is always good for scoring and opportunities on the Clippers and even though the Warriors will play hard, they’re not good and don’t have much depth. Lou can pick up the scraps against a weak Warriors squad and dominate them alongside Montrezl, who I also like in this matchup. He should be in for another big night.
Lonzo Ball (at NY – $7,300 on DK; $6,400 on FD): Ingram might be out and Holiday is out. Lonzo has been playing well as of late and can do a bit of everything. It’s a good matchup against the Knicks because any team against the Knicks is a good matchup. Lonzo is at a nice salary but having at least Ingram would take some pressure off him.
