NBA DFS: Studs, scrubs, and duds for DraftKings and FanDuel Jan. 12

Scrubs

Dillon Brooks (vs GS – $5,800 on DK; $5,500 on FD): Brooks is on a tear right now as the Grizzlies are making a push in 2020. This is a great matchup with the Warriors being the Warriors. Not only has Brooks been scoring, but he’s also chipping in with assists and rebounds.

Jarrett Allen (vs ATL – $5,500 on DK; $5,500 on FD): Allen has gotten plenty of minutes and recent games and is always a double double threat. He also chips in with his defense. The worry here is that Kyrie being back will put the Nets all out of sorts and take away from everything everyone else does. But this is a good enough matchup to where he should deliver at least value with a high ceiling.

Kevin Huerter (at BKN – $6,000 on DK; $5,400 on FD): Huerter has provided consistent value as of late and has a great matchup against the Nets. The minutes and opportunities are almost always there for him, though he really needs his rebounding to be there to add value alongside his scoring. In this game, the rebounding should be there.

Omari Spellman (at MEM – $4,100 on DK; $4,400 on FD): If Spellman is going to start again, he will once again have a big outing due to the matchup. He can do a little bit of everything but really you just have to like his salary if he’s going to start. He’s unlikely to hurt you at this price and the ceiling is high given the matchup. Once again, great value in this game given the offense that should be there and the salaries.

Rudy Gay (at TOR – $4,600 on DK; $4,100 on FD): Gay has played well in three of his last four games and he’s not at a salary that is going to hurt you. He played very well in both games against the Raptors last season, though these are two completely different teams. The Raptors injures on the inside should help his scoring and rebounding.
