5. Las Vegas Raiders

The first team on the list to target Trevor Lawrence is the Las Vegas Raiders. The Raiders do have two first-round picks in the 2020 draft, and many are speculating that they could move up for a quarterback, perhaps Tua Tagovailoa. However, it seems more likely they draft one late and roll with Derek Carr for another season, having added talent (hopefully a top wide receiver) to the roster.

The young quarterbacks in the AFC are growing into good starters, and it’s starting to develop into a tough conference. If the Raiders struggle down the stretch again in 2020, it’s time to look elsewhere and move on from Carr, and mortgaging the future could be the move. Sell future first-rounders and move up for Lawrence in the 2021 NFL Draft.

The strategy to build a good roster then find the quarterback seems like a smart move for the Raiders. With a new era in Las Vegas, it makes sense to go all-in for a top quarterback prospect. At this point, why not make it Lawrence in 2021. His arm talent, accuracy, mobility and great character will fit Gruden and Mayock’s style to a tee.
