Top star players, best value picks, and guys you should stay away from on January 20 in NBA DFS on DraftKings and FanDuel.

Welcome to Studs, Scrubs, and Duds; FanSided’s NBA DFS lineup helper.

Here’s what’s on the slate for tonight:

5 p.m. ET: Orlando at Charlotte, New York at Cleveland, Oklahoma City at Houston, New Orleans at Memphis, Sacramento at Miami, Chicago at Milwaukee
7:30 p.m. ET: LA Lakers at Boston
8 p.m. ET: Denver at Minnesota
9 p.m. ET: San Antonio at Phoenix, Indiana at Utah
10 p.m. ET: Golden State at Portland

How this works:

Studs: Top high salary picks that you can build your lineup around.
Scrubs: Value players looking for a big night or consistent options to help fill out your lineup.
Duds: Players to avoid given their high salary and/or poor matchup.

Five players are picked on each slide, positions are not applicable, and both DraftKings and FanDuel salaries are listed.

Studs

Giannis Antetokounmpo (vs CHI – $11,200 on DK; $1,700 on FD): It’s Giannis against a team that is weak against the position, although their overall defense has been solid. You’re getting guaranteed value with Giannis. It will cost you, but at the same time, on such a big night, there is plenty of value available to build around what you’re getting with Giannis.

Hassan Whiteside (vs GS – $7,500 on DK; $9,000 on FD): Whiteside never lacks for numbers. And he’ll get an even better chance to put up numbers with the Blazers begging short handed and going up against the Warriors. The Blazers aren’t good but Whiteside a guaranteed double double and the rebounding will be high in this one.

Russell Westbrook (vs OKC – $9,800 on DK; $9,500 on FD): The triple double against OKC still looms for Westbrook. He’s been playing great and offering more value than Harden as of late. Harden will turn it around at some point but Russ is the cheaper and more effective option at the moment. The triple double money back guarantee is back in effect.

Bam Adebayo (vs SAC – $8,500 on DK; $8,700 on FD): It’s a back to back for Miami and that it slightly concerning because they are one of the few teams on the back to back. But it’s a great matchup for Adebayo and he’s a triple double threat. There’s some good value across this game with Fox and Butler being strong options as well. My preference is Adebayo.

Chris Paul (at HOU – $6,800 on DK; $7,100 on FD): Paul knows Houston is down and he wants to keep them there. He was great against the Rockets last time and there’s the personal matchup for him as well. I’m banking on him having the same aggression to start as he had against the Blazers as well.
