1. Southampton beat Tottenham with Danny Ings double

Southampton host Tottenham in one of three all-Premier League FA Cup ties. These two sides met on New Year’s day when a Danny Ings goal settled the game in a 1-0 win for the Saints. In the same match, Tottenham lost Harry Kane to injury and they’ve struggled in front of goal since.

Son Heung-Min has not yet found the levels he’s previously reached in the absence of Kane whilst Dele Alli is either lighting up a game or nowhere to be seen. Southampton have the perfect model to beat Tottenham but Jose Mourinho will be wiser to the Saints tactics this time round which means Ralph Hasenhuttl may need something extra.

Hasnehuttl should take a gamble this weekend and instruct his squad to come out and go after Tottenham in the opening half hour of this match. Mourinho won’t be expecting that and if Danny Ings gets even a half-chance it’s likely that he’ll find the net with the form he’s in.

Mourinho will have a plan to make sure his side don’t suffer the same fate as they did in their 1-0 defeat at St. Mary’s on New Year’s day. That means that his team will be out to score goals rather than grab a 1 or 2-0 victory.

That should make Spurs weaker at the back and provide more space for the likes of Nathan Redmond and Danny Ings to exploit. Goals will be the name of the game in this match-up and it will be decided by the better strikeforce.

Surprisingly, that belongs to Southampton right now going by form. Danny Ings is the joint third top-scorer in the league and just seems to know the way to score at the moment. The former Liverpool player will bag a double this weekend with Nathan Redmond almost finding the net. These goals will be enough to take them past Spurs in a thrilling 3-2 win.
