4. George Kittle will be the Super Bowl MVP

Travis Kelce doesn’t play in many games where he’s not comfortably the best tight end on the field.. This year’s Super Bowl will represent one of those rare occurrences. Kelce is great, but George Kittle is arguably the best tight end in football.

Kittle also happens to be Jimmy Garoppolo’s favorite target in the pass game. The 49ers will make sure to throw the ball on the perimeter enough to keep the Kansas City secondary honest, but their real hope is to hit big shots to Kittle down the seam.

In particular, Kittle has an opportunity to feast against almost every member of the Chiefs’ secondary. Tyrann Mathieu is a great player, but he will struggle with Kittle’s size in one-on-one matchups down the field. If Kansas City tries to use one of their mediocre cornerbacks to neutralize Kittle the results will be even worse.

That’s why Kittle profiles as a great pick to earn the honor of being this season’s Super Bowl MVP. The 49ers will run the ball early and often in this game, but they’re going to need some big plays down the field via the passing game. Kittle will be the most targeted player for those opportunities. Expect him to find the end zone at least once and finish the evening with over 100 receiving yards.
