2020 NFL mock draft: Detroit Lions select Tua Tagovailoa
By Brad Weiss
The Carolina Panthers found their new head coach in Matt Rhule this offseason, and it will be interesting to see what he brings to the job in his first shot at the NFL level. He is taking over a franchise that has a lot of questions to be answered, including whether or not Cam Newton will be their quarterback moving forward.
If they want to replace him via the draft, they are going to have to trade up and get their guy, as No. 7 is too late in round one to get one of the more NFL-ready quarterbacks in this class. If they do decide to sit at No. 7, they should look to get better in the secondary, and they could get the best cornerback in the draft here in Jeffrey Okudah.
Okudah is the kind of shutdown cornerback that this team needs, especially playing in the pass-happy NFC South. Remember, this is a defensive unit that lost their cornerstone player in Luke Kuechly to retirement this offseason, so that puts more pressure on the organization to bring in an impact player on that side of the ball in the draft.
The Arizona Cardinals found their quarterback last April, as they rolled the dice on Heisman Trophy winner Kyler Murray with the No. 1 overall pick. While Murray was knocked during the draft process due to his height, he played way bigger than his size in Year No. 1, as he proved to be the perfect compliment to head coach Kliff Kingsbury.
As they enter Year No. 2, the Cardinals have to get him more weapons on the outside, and that is still the case even though Larry Fitzgerald is coming back for another season. One player they should look to target is Jerry Jeudy from Alabama, who is arguably the best route-runner in this draft class.
Arizona actually played much better than their record this past season, and you have to feel like this organization is headed in the right direction. Last year, they got a legitimate starting quarterback in Murray, and in 2020, they bring in the guy who will take the torch from Fitz when he decides to hang them up.
