Jimmy Garoppolo $14,000
When it comes to Garoppolo, I have heard a consistent narrative from many football fans this week. Jimmy G. does not throw the ball! Garoppolo is not an effective passing quarterback! Those are just a few of the statements I have heard.
Well, let me start by noting that the Action Network is currently indicating that the over/under for this game is 54.5. That suggests to me that the sharp guys in Las Vegas don’t expect a 10-3 final score on Sunday. Logic tells me that a high scoring football game indicates that both quarterbacks are likely to be throwing the football a significant number of times.
Yes, it is true that Jimmy G. has only thrown 19 passes in the entire 2019 postseason. However, you have to dig a little deeper into that statistic. On the surface, that statistic does not look good. However, if you look a little closer you will see that Garoppolo did not need to throw the football in the two postseason games that he has played. The 49ers dominated those games by running the football which made the passing game virtually non existent.
I clearly think that Jimmy G. will have to throw the football early and often on Super Bowl Sunday. I see the Chiefs scoring a high number of points and that means Garoppolo will have to pass the ball as well. In my opinion, Jimmy G. will have 25-35 passing attempts in this football game.
George Kittle $12,000
I am well aware of the fact that 49ers tight end George Kittle only has four receptions in the postseason to this point. However, I am not concerned. I mentioned earlier in this article that the reason that the 49ers have not thrown the ball much in this postseason has been due to the game scripts of both games the team has played. However, I fully expect the 49ers reliance on the running game to end on Sunday night. As a direct result of that, the 49ers will be passing the ball more often.
Additionally, the Chiefs have been abysmal covering the tight end position this season. The Chiefs have allowed a staggering 98 receptions to tight ends this season. How does that rank compared to the rest of the league? The Chiefs defense ranks 31st in the NFL in total receptions allowed to the tight end position in 2019.
For my money, Mr. Kittle is the best football player at the tight end position in the league. I think George will show the world just how good he is on Sunday night.
