Pick Analysis. Indianapolis Colts. Scouting Report. OT. Anthony Castonzo. 3. player. 46

While the Colts are expected to be big spenders in free agency, if there is one player they need to figure out a way to bring back, it would be starting left tackle Anthony Castonzo. He has played his entire nine-year NFL career with the Colts after being drafted out of Boston College in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft.

Though he has never made it to a Pro Bowl, Castonzo has 132 career starts under his belt. He has only missed 12 games in his NFL career, having started at least 11 games for the Colts at tackle every season. While the Colts offensive line was abysmal for much of Andrew Luck’s playing career in Indianapolis, Castonzo has been arguably the best player upfront for them since 2011.

Is there a chance Castonzo could take a hometown discount to remain with the Colts? Potentially, but he’s on the wrong side of 30 and is due for one last big payday before sailing off into retirement. Castonzo may be able to play at a high level into his late 30s, but who is to say how much longer he wants to keep playing? If he wants to keep playing, he should stay with the Colts.

The fortunate thing for the Colts is that they have the second-most cap space in the league and aren’t losing a ton of guys they’ll need to bring back on new contracts. Castonzo has to be on top of that shortlist. While the Colts will look add a few big names from other teams in free agency, there is no reason they should let Castonzo walk. Otherwise, how will the offensive line function?
