Pick Analysis. WR. Robby Anderson. player. Scouting Report. New York Jets. 2. 30

One area where the Colts needed to get more dynamic is in the skill position game. Yes, they have a perennial Pro Bowler at wide receiver in T.Y. Hilton, but he can’t be the only guy Jacoby Brissett or whoever starts at quarterback for Indianapolis can lean on in the passing game. One guy the Colts do need to target in free agency is New York Jets wide receiver, Robby Anderson.

Though he has never been a 1,000-yard receiver with the Jets, Anderson has been a consistent pass-catcher during what has been a tumultuous time for Gang Green’s offense. While the Jets may want to bring him back on a new deal, he might be a guy better suited for the franchise tag than getting a long-term deal with the Jets. The question is if he’s worthy of being tagged.

If the Jets do opt to tag Anderson, he will be grossly overpaid for a season to the amount of $18.1 million. The Jets are known to do dumb stuff in free agency, but that number seems too big for them to really pursue that avenue. Though the Jets have solid cap space at $56.3 million, the Colts have the ammunition to beat out New York in a bidding war for Anderson’s services.

By pairing Anderson with Hilton in the Colts’ receiving corps, there is a chance we’ll see both players thrive off each other. Hilton will continue to be a perennial Pro Bowler, but won’t be taken out of ball games as easily because he’s the Colts’ No. 1 target. As for Anderson, he’d be a very skilled No. 2 receiver in Indianapolis and would have a shot at going over 1,000 yards in 2020.
