Top star players, best value picks, and guys you should stay away from on January 31 in NBA DFS on DraftKings and FanDuel.

Welcome to Studs, Scrubs, and Duds; FanSided’s NBA DFS lineup helper.

Here’s what’s on the slate for tonight:

7 p.m. ET: Toronto at Detroit
7:30 p.m. ET: Chicago at Brooklyn, Dallas at Houston
8 p.m. ET: Memphis at New Orleans
9 p.m. ET: Denver at Milwaukee, Oklahoma City at Phoenix
10:30 p.m. ET: Portland at LA Lakers

How this works:

Studs: Top high salary picks that you can build your lineup around.
Scrubs: Value players looking for a big night or consistent options to help fill out your lineup.
Duds: Players to avoid given their high salary and/or poor matchup.

Five players are picked on each slide, positions are not applicable, and both DraftKings and FanDuel salaries are listed.

Studs

LeBron James (vs POR – $10,300 on DK; $11,200 on FD): It’s the first game back for LeBron. I truly don’t know how he’s going to be mentally but my best guess is that he plays his tail off and uses it as an escape. The Blazers, who are turning it around, are still flawed defensively. And the energy will be enough to carry the Lakers. LeBron will end as the top scorer on the night.

Damian Lillard (at LAL – $9,900 on DK; $10,100 on FD): I’m still not doubting Lillard. He’s on a mission to carry Portland and even though the matchup is tough, maybe the Blazers are finally coming together. Even if they’re not totally there, Lillard has certainly raised his game.

Devin Booker (vs OKC – $9,100 on DK; $8,900 on FD): Booker almost always delivers against the Thunder and he’s going to have some extra fuel from the All Star snub. OKC present a tough matchup but Booker gets buckets.

Pascal Siakam (at DET – $8,200 on DK; $8,300 on FD): Siakam is rarely going to hurt you because he plus such a consistent game and does a bit of everything. And it’s a great matchup as the Pistons offer next to nothing. Gasol being out helps him as well.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (at PHO – $6,700 on DK; $7,700 on FD): Shai has struggled from the field but he’s still getting assists and rebounds. And those add up. It’s a great matchup and the only concern is OKC’s balanced attack. But this feels like a big game for Shai based on the matchup. Also look at Porzingis with Luka out.
