NBA Fanduel – Shooting Guards

Top Tier: D’Angelo Russell versus Boston Celtics ($8,600)

Andrew Wiggins being sent to Golden State seems like a good deal so far and we’re slowly waiting to see D’Angelo improves this Minnesota Timberwolves team. He recorded 26 points, 11 assists, and six rebounds before heading in to All Star weekend after a minor down game versus Toronto. Russell is averaging 1.18 fantasy points per minute while holding a usage rate of 32%.

Russell does have the ice in his veins but he has a slightly tougher match up tonight versus the Celtics. They are currently allowing opposing shooting guards to average just 22 points, six rebounds, and four assists per game. With Boston though, they play at a slower pace averaging just 103 possessions per game while Minnesota is running at 108 possessions.

Mid Tier: Fred VanVleet versus Phoenix Suns ($6,500)

Who doesn’t love some Fred VanVleet?! Just like his teammate, Kyle Lowry, VanVleet is in a prime spot at a good price tonight. He is projected to reach 41,2 fantasy points with a ceiling of 52.1. With a usage rate of 22%, VanVleet is averaging one fantasy points per minute.

We’ve already targeted the Phoenix Suns at the point guard position so we’ll stick with shooting guards also. They allow opposing shooting guards to average 24 points, six rebounds and four assist per game. We already discussed the pace of the game and with them playing at a similar one, we shouldn’t expect a fast paced game with no blow out potential.

Low Tier: Dillon Brooks versus Los Angeles Lakers ($4,700)

We had Dillion Brooks as an “Other Option” in last nights write up but he’ll be on the main attraction for tonight’s nine game slate. Now he hasn’t put together too many strong games before the break as he hit a minor slump. He is averaging 25.2 fantasy points per game and .89 fantasy points per minute. He is projected to hit 27.7 fantasy points tonight but has a nice ceiling of 44.8.

Now the Los Angeles Lakers are a team that can easily blow out any team and even with Anthony Davis “questionable”, this game could get ugly. They currently allow opposing shooting guards to average 22 points, five rebounds, and four assists per game. There is a slight pace difference but nothing that stands out and pushes Brooks to the top of the shooting guard list.

Other Options: Donovan Mitchell ($7,000), DeMar DeRozan ($7.200), Marcus Smart ($5,400)
