NBA DFS: Studs, scrubs, and duds for February 25
Duds
Hassan Whiteside (vs BOS – $9,200 on DK; $9,600 on FD): Pending Defensive Player of the Year Hassan Whiteside is always good for numbers and managed to step up against Detroit. But Boston isn’t Detroit. And this feels like a game where everyone, mainly the Blazers, are reminded that they aren’t very good. There’s a lot of good value on Tuesday and Whiteside is not part of that deal.
Zach LaVine (vs OKC – $8,900 on DK; $8,900 on FD): LaVine has been too disappointing for my liking as of late and now he has a tough matchup against the Thunder. He might not hurt you but it’s a high price with so much value out there. OKC are very good on the road and have some stout one on one defenders that could easily trouble LaVine.
Fred VanVleet (vs MIL – $6,800 on DK; $6,300 on FD): VanVleet is the guy who has taken a step back as the Raptors continue to role. Nothing wrong with that for the team, but it hurts from a DFS perspective. This is a tough matchup, although one he delivered against in the playoffs. Still, find value elsewhere on the Raptors.
Brandon Ingram (at LAL – $6,800 on DK; $7,500 on FD): Speaking of guys taking a step back, Zion’s arrival has seemed to hurt Ingram the most. The scoring opportunities aren’t there like they used to be and his numbers are down. There is the Lakers revenge factor but Lonzo seems to be doing better with that than Ingram.
Eric Bledsoe (at TOR – $6,900 on DK; $5,800 on FD): Bledsoe is too inconsistent despite how good the Bucks are. He has a high ceiling but this is a tough matchup and there is more guaranteed value below him. When it comes to the Bucks in this game, build around Giannis or grab Middleton or a better value player. There’s no sense in taking the risk with Bledsoe given his inconsistencies.
