The Giants have been attempting to clean up the offensive line for years. Short-sighted moves, reaching in the draft, and not being able to find talent elsewhere has left the team in constant flux.

Right guard Kevin Zeitler was the team’s best offensive lineman in 2019. Left guard Will Hernandez was decent, but did show flashes of being a mainstay. Other than that, the center position has been an issue and Nate Solder has proven to be a poor free-agent signing at left tackle.

Enter Jedrick Wills Jr., tackle out of Alabama.

Wills took the starting right tackle job during his sophomore season before the 2018 season kicked off. He went on to start 29 games for one of college football’s most prolific and prestigious programs.

Injecting talented, athletic players into your offensive line has become the new roster building formula shared by some of the league’s best teams.

The Dallas Cowboys have long been the poster child for this way of building a team, but the Philadelphia Eagles and Indianapolis Colts have also put that plan to work as of recent as well.

We have seen it time and again. Neophyte signal-callers are tasked with bringing their teams back to prominence. However, they fall flat due to no protection.
